		<description>Thank you for this. That article was very misguided, and I agree it is entirely in bad form to attack the &quot;1-20%&quot; of sales that fair trade accounts for. The majority of consumer products that we purchase in North America are imported, and yes this does cause a tremendous amount of green house gases, which we are all concerned about. However, if we are going to import, why not import fair trade versus non-fair trade? Socially conscious businesses are going to do what is right from a humanitarian standpoint and from an environmental standpoint. Fair trade organizations and businesses are very sensitive to environmental issues and, I think are even more likely to offset emissions than other importers who are negligent of humanitarian concerns. Fair trade values are very deep rooted, and it is never about just making a profit. This author is obviously concerned with the environment and carbon emissions. Good for them, we need all the people we can get to advocate for the environment. But lets not bully the small segment of importers who are concerned with the social well being of our planet. Lets get the message across to corporations who are more oriented toward making a profit above all else.</description>
