Rose Giveaway at Earth Day Celebration
On Sunday, April 27th, the La Montanita Co-op in Albuquerque celebrated Earth Day with an outdoor festival at the Nob Hill location. One World Flowers joined in the celebrations and brightened the crowd by giving away over 1,500 Fair Trade Certified™ roses to people in the crowd! Each rose had a small tag on it that explained the benefits of buying Fair Trade Certified™ flowers. "This was an awesome way to make a big impact for Fair Trade flowers and tell a lot of people that they are now available in the United States," said Alaina Paradise, the company's President. "Our hope is that they will make it a point to buy Fair Trade flowers from now on."

La Montanita Co-Ops Offer Fair Trade Flowers

Beginning in March of 2008, two La Montanita Co-op locations in New Mexico are offering Fair Trade Certified™ roses to their customers! The locations at Rio Grande and in Santa Fe are the first retilers in the southwest United States to offer Fair Trade Certified™ flowers to their customers. Their commitment to sustainability, human rights, and socially conscious business is setting the standard for other retailers in the region.
To help introduce the new Fair Trade Certified™ roses to customers, La Montanita included an article in the Co-op Connection Magazine. This summer, keep an eye out for Fair Trade day at the two participating locations. Thank you La Montanita!

We offer semester-long internships that allow you to get valuable hands-on work experience while making a difference for people around the globe.
